Giada Mancini "A pencil in my hand."
by Michael Kocurek
Hi Giada, and thank you for taking some time to answer our questions. Please tell us a bit about yourself. How, when and why did you become interested in the arts?
I have always had a pencil in my hand since I have got memory. I have spent hours drawing, lost in my fantasies and in my secret world of imagination.
In spite of this great interest I have never been enough confident to pursue the artistic career.
I have attended to a language institute, then ,at last, I have chosen to spend 3 years at I.E.D (European Design Institue) to learn some real techniques. It has been usefull, but even there I did not considered myself ready to start working as professional.
Do you work fulltime in the arts or is it developed on your spare time?
I am working full time since 2007.
What is your favorite piece and why this one in specific?
I have always loved Leonardo da Vinci since I was 5.
I consider him a genius and I admire the way he still remains a everlasting source of inspiration for science and art in every part of the world.
Where do you find your inspiration tends to comes from?
It is a mix of several influences I believe. I have travelled a lot in my life, I have seen so many things and people and experienced a lot of different situations that inevitably pushed and shaked up my immagination and my desire to express it. Internet also give me a lot of ways to explore and admire other's artistic inner worlds.
Are there any artists in your field whose work you admire?
Yes, there are many of them. I try to learn as much as I can from then, but I always try to remain faithfull to my style.
How much time do you generally spend creating each of your works?
It depends on how much I am inspired. It could takes minutes as months. When I am working for a commitment I try hard to organize myself to deliver a good product according to the dead line.
Generally I must say that time restrictions help me to better use my energies for the better result.
What do you consider your dream job to be?
I don't have a clear idea about it, but indeed I'd love to work during a pre-production stage of movies or series, in a international environment and with a outgoing team.(...And been regualary paid for this, which is quite exceptional in Italy).
I still wish to discover a regulary pipeline production where to find a final place, because in Italy your boss requires from you different roles.
Do you have any advice for other budding artists in your field?
Follow your dreams no matter what people says, especially if you ask for tips and consideration to the one's you most admire, even they cannot understand your hidden value.
And I also have a practical advise, if you are looking for a good job in the animation field in Italy, don't.
Well, thank you for your time and keep on posting. I'm sure we'll see some new, great illustrations soon.
